First Dolly Kei Coord:: Grimoire Astronomy Dress

Two ways I wore my Grimoire Astronomy Map dress

This was my first big purchase for J-Fashion, so I wanted to make sure I was happy with the dress in a full coord. This was also my first "official" dolly kei coord, but I almost felt like I could've fit in with the Grimoire staff!
If you don't know what dolly kei is, I wrote a post a while back about it here.

I wore this to my university's j-fashion club meeting for International Lolita Day at a local British tea shop!

Collar: Dearli
Tights: Grimoire replica
Shoes: Angelic Imprint (taobao)
Cardigan: My mom's
Purse: Vivienne Westwood knock-off
Bow brooch: Storenvy

This was the second coord I wore with this dress at my local lolita community's Christmas party!

Wig: Dreamholics
Cape: Dearli
Tights: Grimoire Brilliant Swan tights
Headbow & Shoes: Taobao offbrand
Purse: Vivienne Westwood knock-off

I wore several ear cuffs and clip-ons
since my ears aren't pierced.

Japanese Street Fashion Club group photo!
Me and my lovely friend Ann~ She should be a model for BBTSB!

I hope you enjoyed my first dolly kei coords! Have you tried dolly before?

"Doll from the Attic" Mori Coord + Red Bud Isle vlog

Hello my dear followers!

Today I wanted to share with you the coord I wore for a recent small meet-up with a couple local mori girls. We wanted to take advantage of the fall colors before winter takes over! The perfect place to enjoy the autumn scenery is Red Bud Isle, which is very colorful most of the year and even more colorful during the fall.

My main pieces are from Cawaii
Bag is customized from urban outfitters
Wig is from Dreamholics
Everything else is off-brand or taobao!

Hope you enjoyed my vlog! Is it still autumn where you are or did the leaves already fall?

Sincerely,
Miss Kellie

OTT Mori coord for Japanese Street Fashion Showcase

As some of you know, I'm the Vice President (currently standing in for the Pres.) of my university's Japanese Street Fashion Club. We recently were given the opportunity by the Japanese Association to hold a fashion show at their Fall Festival and I was in charge of the event. Since the festival was hosted at night, we weren't able to get good pictures of the show, but I definitely wanted to share my mori coord with you!

Sweater, blouses, underskirt- thrifted
Overdress, overshirt- forest girl fans
Socks, tights- ebay
Shoes- customized Angelic Imprint
Bag- customized Urban Outfitters
Purse- My mother's, from my great-aunt
Necklaces- my grandmother's
Hair accessory- handmade
Brooch- handmade from my line DoMoCu
I thought that the more Harajuku interpretation of mori (mostly lacy layers and lots of piled-on antique and lacy accessories) would be appropriate because our club is for Japanese Street Fashion, which implies something a little more over the top in reference to Harajuku and other popular fashionable street cultures. Also since it was a fashion show, I thought over the top would be more eye-catching and fun c:

We had such a great time performing and (in my humble opinion) totally stole the show away! I'm really proud of everyone I worked with on this project and will look forward to doing it again next year.

Yours truly,
Miss Kellie

Polly Frances Elizabeth { mushroom necklace review for mori girls }

Recently I gave you a sneak peak at the necklace Polly sent me to review in my Mori Vlog 2. ^^

Now, I'm reviewing it!

THE STORE

Polly Frances Elizabeth is a artist and designer of whimsical and nature-inspired accessories, jewelry, and artworks. Everything in Polly's shop is handmade by her and she also takes custom orders!

POLLY

Polly's lived near nature for most of her life, so it heavily inspires her work, along with fairy tales, folk art, and fantasy. She's a forest girl at heart, just like us! You can also follow her also blog here, where she talks about her adventures; crafts; mori, dolly, and natural kei fashions; and many other similar topics.

WOOD SLICE PENDANTS

I was given a beautiful wood slice necklace, hand painted with a mushroom. They are about $12.16 in USD, which is very reasonable for a hand made and painted piece of jewelry. Here are some of her other pendants:

REVIEW

I am very impressed with the whimsical design, as well as the craftsmanship. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that even though I played in the rain while wearing it, the design wasn't damaged because of the varnish covering it.

I also liked that the cord is durable and seems sturdy. I feel like a lot of indie jewelry designers will have a really cute handmade pendant, but put it on a chain that doesn't quite fit with the design. Polly's necklaces have a consistent feel throughout of being something a forest girl would actually make herself and wear.

All of her items have that beautiful handmade quality to them that only comes from a person who's really passionate about what they're doing. I would definitely order from her another time. There are several items in her shop I have my eye on, so I'll have to snatch them up soon before anyone else does! (๑>á´—<๑) hehe

DISCOUNT CODE

Polly is also a total sweetheart and has given me an exclusive code for my readers! If you use the code misskellie when you order, you can receive a 15% discount! The code will expire December 20th, so you have enough time to order your Christmas gifts with the discount.

Thank you so much, Polly! I had a lot of fun taking photos and reviewing your necklace! I can't wait to own more of your beautiful pieces. ♡

Much love to my followers,

Miss Kellie

What is included in the mori box?

Each box includes 5-10 items inspired by mori kei. Even smaller items or samples will mean there could be 10+ items in one box. Items will range from accessories, jewelry, handmade accessories by DoMoCu, beauty stuff, trinkets, snacks, tea, craft supplies, penpal supplies, and home goods.

A fixed price of $25 per box.

Not yet, but you will be able to soon!

Yes! You will get a coupon of $2 off for the February box :) You can also enter in the giveaway below for a FREE box!

The "Indoors for Winter" Mori Box

Most days, she braves the cold anyway. Too many trails need to be treaded and too many dead leaves need to be stepped on and too many shivering sparrows need to be sketched for her to stay inside. But some days are just too cold to leave her warm cottage. What's a forest dweller to do when she's confined indoors, with only the windows to offer some satisfaction to her love of the forest? The "Indoors for Winter" Mori Box is a little care package for forest girls to make those days a little cozier, cuter, yummier, and more bearable! ♡

ORDER PERIOD : Nov 2 - 30
SHIP-OUT BY: December 20
a Rafflecopter giveaway
I also want to thank all of my followers and mori friends! This box is really for you ♡ If your goodies make you smile, make you feel like a real forest girl, and foster your love for the forest and simple pleasures, then my goal is accomplished. Good luck on the giveaway, deers :)

Love all of you ♡

Grimoire Celestial Closet { UNBOXING } .。.:*・°☆

My dear ethereal astronauts,

About a month ago, I made my first purchase from Grimoire! Grimoire is a popular J-Fashion brand amongst dolly kei, cult party kei, and some mori wearers in Japan. However, their Verum tights are famous across a broader range of J-Fashion keis, especially with lolita. What I really love about their tights is that they're printed knowing that the design will be stretched. I feel like cheaper quality tights and OTKs don't do this, but the tights I bought from Grimoire didn't have a stretched design, even though my legs are fairly thick.

Here are some tights from their website:

Wonderful Parade Toile

Blanc et Noir

Vitrail

Collection du Papillon

You can also purchase some replicas here: (Use my discount code misskellie for 10% off!)

$19.70

Besides tights, Grimoire mostly re-sells vintage clothing. Celestial Closet is their first original clothing line, and I was one of the first in line to pre-order the Astronomy Map dress and Brilliant Swan tights!
White Astronomy Map Dress

Brilliant Swan tights
I'm SO happy with my purchases and pleasantly surprised about the high quality! The dress material is quite soft and is WAY better than the cheap F21 quality I've been conditioned to expect. I can't wait to buy from Grimoire again! I really wanted the necklace from the Celestial Closet line, but it was way more than I wanted to pay for a piece of jewelry..

I'm working on putting together a full coord for this dress and when I finish I'll make a better outfit video! I really want it to be fantasy-like and whimsical. Please look forward to that video sometime during November!

Yours truly,
Miss Kellie (from a galaxy far, far away) .。.:*・°☆

Harajuku-Style Mori Coord

Hullo everyone!

I've recently put this coord together for a bubble tea meet-up. It's slightly different from what I actually wore there, accessories-wise. Most of my mori outfits are the harajuku style (primarily lace and off-whites) because I love all of the antique/vintage keis, but I also want to broaden my spectrum to include more traditional mori style coords. I think on my next taobao purchase, I will buy some items for a more "practical" forest girl look!

In the meantime, please enjoy my outfit snaps ^^ There were many layers, so bear with me! (also please excuse my tired face)

Under-dress: taobao
Skirt: taobao
Blouse: Buffalo Exchange (second hand)
Vest: second hand
Outer vest: taobao
Scarf: taobao
Gold bow: etsy
Heart pin: Great-Grandmother's
Purse: Great Aunt's
Totoro: Local toy shop
Beads: Grandmother's
Flower brooch: craft store
Shoes: Angelic imprint, customized
Socks: Ebay
Tights: F21
Ring: Second hand
Hair clip: Anthropologie

...still trying to figure out my camera settings and what works best for outfit snaps.. sigh ><

Until next time,
Miss Kellie

Bi-Monthly Mori Box

My dear fellow forest dwellers,

I wanted to see what you think about a concept I'm working on. Have you ever seen monthly subscription boxes? If not, they're basically packages you can subscribe to be shipped to you on a monthly/bimonthly basis. There are snack boxes, baby boxes, beauty boxes...but how about... a bi-monthly mori box!

If this sounds interesting to you, could you please take a moment to fill out this survey? There's a better description in the survey about what would come in this box. I've set it so none of the questions are required. Just pick whatever you'd like to answer to! You can also go back and change your answers if needed. Thank you so much, I really appreciate your feedback! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me about it in the comments here.

Thank you ♡
Miss Kellie

Mori Girl Lifestyle Vlog 1: Farmer's Market & Tea

Hello again!

Today I spent some time at a small local farmer's market. I explored the grounds, made a purchase, and walked nearby for tea. You can watch my little adventure in my first video blog below!

Because the lighting was quite dim inside, I wasn't able to publish the video I took of the market. I also took photos, but they turned out poorly as well ;; Lately I've been trying to understand the custom settings on my camera, so some days my pictures might not be very good.. Please accept a photo of my tea and scone from Zhi tea and outfit snaps to compensate!

I'd love to hear what you think of my first video! I really enjoyed making it, so I will definitely do more in the future.

Yours truly,
Miss Kellie

Harajuku Shop: Mori picks for Autumn

Hello everyone ♡

I have another exciting announcement.. I have my first sponsor!

Harajuku Fashion & Fashion Store

I will be doing a small feature on some mori picks I found from my sponsor's storenvy site to get you excited for the upcoming fall season! The best part is... if you use my code, misskellie, you get 10% off storewide! Wow!

It's not quite autumn yet in Texas, since it's still usually pretty hot, sadly.. ;; Is it autumn where you live yet?

Tops

Finally, we mori girls get to layer again! Summer is quite a killer for forest girls, since layering is one of the main aesthetics of mori kei. I really recommend getting a long-sleeve peter pan collared blouse, because the lace collar design will peep through whatever you put on top of it. This piece will also carry you into the winter! Also, feel free to continue wearing short-sleeved shirts. Just put a long-sleeve underneath it and keep layering over it.

I'm actually quite proud of myself, because I've lately been trying out natural kei, and not just lacey mori. These navy and red shirts will do perfectly ^^ !

Sweaters

Wether it's plain with patches or cutely embroidered, sweaters and cardigans are the way to go! The great thing about these two is that they're lovely for layering and perfectly applicable to non-mori or non-natural kei. You can wear them with you.. *whispers*... normal clothes.

(Shorter) knit sweater
Patched knit sweater
Autumn knit sweater

Jackets

It's a good idea to have a lighter jacket (like the cape below) and something a bit warmer. Autumn can be unpredictable (especially in texas), since it's transitioning between hot and cold days. The cape here would be a great mori piece, while the other two are closer suited to natural kei, but that doesn't mean you can't crossover!

Cat(fish) lace hooded jacket
Lace hooded embroidery cape
Fishy hooded jacket

Accessories

Boots are a must for fall, for really any style! They're especially useful to mori girls who like to trek in the fallen leaf-covered forest. Tights are also a great way to keep warm during the cooler seasons. These are actually replicas from Grimoire, a popular Japanese dolly kei brand!
(Also this owl is just the cutest thing, for really any season)

Grimoire replica tights

I hope you enjoyed the items I have to share! This shop also sells fairy kei and harajuku style items, so please take a look at what else they have to offer. I really appreciate the support!

Talk to you soon ^^
